P.C. Cast  and Kristen Cast

After high school she joined the United States Air Force and began public speaking and writing. With her tour in the USAF completed, she taught high school for 15 years before retiring to write full time. Ms. Cast is a #1 New York Times and USA Today Best-Selling author and a proud member of the Oklahoma Writers Hall of Fame. Ms. Cast's young adult, paranormal romance, and fantasy series can currently be found in forty-two countries. Ms. Cast lives in Oklahoma with an assortment of dogs, cats, horses, and one precocious burro.

Kristin Cast
Kristin Cast is a NY Times and USA Today bestselling author who teams with her mother to write the House of Night YA series. She has stand alone stories in several anthologies, as well as editorial credits. Currently Kristin is working on her first stand alone novel.

The only books of her's I have read are The House Of Night Series. I had no intention of reading them since they are more Young Adult, but my daughter wanted to read them....so that meant I had to pre-read them. I fell in love as did my daughter. I recommend this series to young ones starting out in reading paranormal romance and fantasy. It's a great starter.

House of Night Series: MARKED
After she is Marked, 16 year-old Zoey Redbird enters the House of Night and learns that she is no average fledgling. She has been marked as special by the vampyre Goddess Nyx. But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school’s most elite club, is mis-using her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny – with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

P.C. Cast's other writings:
Goddess Summoning
Partholon
House of Night Graphic Novels
Divine Series and more..

'Inevitable Destinyz' Excerpt

'Inevitable Destinyz'
coming soon

Chapter 11
Brina really needed to think about everything more carefully and figure out what was going on. She kept walking, looking at the trees and listening to the noises from the animals. It was peaceful out here she thought. After a ways she found a bench and sat down. Thinking, it started with the hike with the group Monday. Well when he touched my arm as he caught her so she wouldn’t fall. That was when she first felt the warm feeling all over.
She remembered she had probed then and got from him lust. Why was he feeling that way? He didn’t even know her. Maybe because he thought I was good looking and wanted me physically, I don’t understand that but I’ll go with it. Then there’s the way we were looking into each others eyes, I can’t even remember how long we did. Then at dinner when he linked with me, I was feeling…excited he wanted to meet me and a bit scared. Why? Oh Goddess, help me understand. Why did I feel scared last night when he tried to link? I’m powerful, more so than vampires when it comes to magiks. Then the shy feeling is strange too.  The scariest thing though is passing out. I remember hyperventilating, he let go of me and that was when he had said I passed out. I have never passed out, why then?

What do I know for sure? He’s a vampire. He never hurt me and offered to bring me back when he thought I was scared. He did bring me back when I wanted to leave. Then there is the attempt of linking when I was asleep. He said he never did it unless he knew it was ok so it couldn’t have been him. He respected me with linking and even told me he was sorry for doing it at dinner. He hasn’t tried to talk to me or link today like I told him. Ok time to find out if he was the one trying to link last night.

“Kendreague” She had never tried it over much distance and didn’t know if he would hear.
Then she heard telepathically, “Brina is that you?” It was Kendreague for sure.

“Yes.” Was all she said. Let him lead the conversation she thought.

“What do you want? I thought you didn’t want to talk to me.” he asked.

“I need you to answer a question for me if you will? That’s all.”

“Yes if I have the answer.”

Brina took a deep breath before asking, “Last couple of nights after I was sleeping it felt like someone was mind link with me, was that you?”

“You told me not to. Why would I? My answer is no, I didn’t. Now is that all you wanted?” he answered, a bit frustrated and cold. Brina thought, no that’s not all but I don’t want to talk to him any longer.

But her mind took over and answered, “Yes and no.”

“I’m confused. What does that mean?” he replied. She didn’t answer right away because she didn’t really know herself. She got up off the bench and started walking, making sure she was blocking her mind. What did I mean? She didn’t know. That was when it happened, she was too busy in her mind to watch what she was doing and tripped. When she fell she was falling over a small embankment. She yelled and screamed mentally not remembering she was linked to Kendreague.

“What’s happening? What’s wrong Brina? Where are you?” Kendreague was frantic.
Brina sent him a picture of where she was since she wouldn’t tell him exactly where she had fallen to.  She slowed her breathing down and that was when she realized her arm was bleeding terribly.
“I’m coming. Hang on Brina.” Kendreague told her and broke the link.

A Taste of 'Inevitable Destinyz'

Here is a taste of my book to come. It is a young adult story of romance and conflict. Hope you enjoy it.

"Inevitable Destinyz"
by Jessica Markley

In 1860ad a wise women of 110 years made a prophecy:
Once 'The Prince' descended from Vlad Dracula finds 'The Maiden' they will unite and produce the 'Pure Child'. They will be of both Solstices. They will be unable to stop from forming this bond. Their bond will be beyond anything that has ever been. They will bond in the physical, mental, and spiritual plains. 'The Maiden' will become “The Mother of All Witches” and then “The Crone to All”. It will happen in the year when three tens or three elevens fall in the same month. It is their destiny. Once 'The Prince' and 'The Maiden' find each other, hearts will bond for their loved ones. All bonds will be made by The Fall Equinox. Those affected will live together and help each other. All will help raise ‘The Pure Child’, who is to be born on the Spring Equinox and will be born before the prince is nineteen. All seven couples will raise their twenty-one children together and they will all have powers that are more than there has been before. With proper raising, they will unite all.

From Chapter 6
As Kendreague slowed down, Brina saw the opening to a beautiful clearing. There were five driftwood benches and a huge fire pit, flowers of every color and size; white lily of the valley, purple and blue violets, dandelions, pink and red wild roses, baby’s breath, blue morning glories that were at the wilting stage for the day, and the green of the moss covered trees. There was what looked like part of an old stone wall covered with ivy and moss. It looked as if it had been forgotten over the years though. Almost right out of a fairytale Brina thought.
“It’s wonderful. How did you know it was here?” Brina asked.
“I found it a few years back and never told anyone.”

Wednesday Reads!

How about a book that could be classified as young adult with innuendo? Gotta love Patricia Briggs, author of  "Mercy Thompson Series".  Mercy is a mechanic that loves working on Volkswagen vehicles, especially her friend 's who happens to be a vampire. Then she has a pack of wolves in town, and guess what; the alpha lives right behind her trailer. You got your werewolves, ghosts, fae, vampires, witches and of course your skinwalker. Yeppers, Mercy is a coyote skinwalker. Yeah lots happening to our little coyote; always seems to get into trouble. 'Moon Called' is the first in the series. Once you start you will have to finish the series.
Enjoy you reads this week!  Get Moon Called at the links below;

Snippet!

From "Inevitable Destinyz"

Chapter 59

“Alexia we need to get to the gate. Josie and Matthan are here.” Edan told Alexia. They went straight to the gate and sure enough they were there waiting.
“Lexi, tell this idiot to let me in.” Josie told her.
“Sid is not an idiot.”
“Thank you Mother. These two say they are to be here but they are not on the CC.”
“Sid that would be my fault, Alexia told me to add that they were coming today and I forgot.” Edan told him.
“Your highness, I’m sorry I did not mean to be so rude. I will need their social security numbers and run them before I can let them passed my office.”
“I understand Sid. You’re doing a good job. We’ll wait with them.” Alexia told him.
“Lexi, what’s going on? What did he call you?”
“Yeah, she isn’t is she?” Matthan asked Edan.
“Edan, it’s ok, Brina said I could tell Josie but the same rules apply for when we all left camp.” Alexia told him.
“Ok, here goes. Josie, Edan is a vampire and now I am too. There are witches here and I’m getting married on Sunday to Edan.”
“You changed her you idiot. I knew this was bad when you told me to come.” Matthan said.
“Stop that now.” Edan commanded.
“You can’t tell me what I can and can’t do Edan.” Matthan said.
“Oh I can and I will. I’m one of the fourteen you idiot. Kendreague is the damn prince.” Matthan just stared and dropped his head. He knew a punishment was called for. “Matthan, I’m not going to punish you. Just stop so we can explain to Josie here.” Matthan nodded.
“Lexi, tell me what’s going on. Why is he so powerful and what is with the prince and all that about?” Josie was really confused now, or at least she acted as if she was.  Edan explained about the witches and vampires and then about the prediction. Alexia told her about Brina’s prediction too.
“You’re going to have a baby with a vampire?” Josie asked.
“Yes and I’m a vampire too if you remember.”
“Edan, may I speak your highness?” Matthan was acting as he should have in the beginning.
“Please you don’t have to be like that. You are my best friend and I wanted you here to be a participant in my handfasting to Alexia.”
“Your highness I can’t do that. You changed her and are handfasting with a former human. I can’t and I won’t. I’ll kill her if I get the chance.” Edan was at a loss. He never thought his best friend was a racist. He did the only thing he could think of.
“Kendreague help, I need you.”
Josie had stepped between Matthan and Alexia. Kendreague was there in seconds of Edan’s cry for help and that’s what it was.
“What in the name of ‘The Goddess’ is going on here?” Kendreague yelled. Matthan dropped and bowed to him. Josie bowed her head. No one answered. Kendreague was loosing his cool. Alexia noticed and spoke up.
“Kendreague, Matthan has been down right mean and nasty about me being changed and that Edan and I are handfasting. He threatened to kill me.”
“Matthan, what do you have to say for yourself?” Kendreague asked.
“Nothing your highness; I’m sorry my views are not the ones you like.” “Explain now!” he commanded. Kendreague had known Matthan for several years and never thought he would act like this.
“I do not think humans should have been enfolded into the prediction. It is wrong and I do not like it.” Matthan said.
“I think I need Brina here for this.” He linked and Brina flew to him.
“Brina dear this is Matthan, a friend of Edan’s, or so we thought. Matthan explain to ‘The Maiden’ now!” Matthan explained and Brina listened.
“Alexia, are you hurt by his thoughts?”
“I’m not hurt, I just think friends should understand and be happy when you’re happy. He is wrong in his thoughts but I know I can’t change them.” She told Brina.
“And who might this be?” Kendreague finally realized Josie was still bowed.
“This is my best friend Josie, she’s human!” Alexia emphasized the human part. Matthan made a snarling sound. Brina lost her cool and sent power through him.
“The law is clear, Matthan has been disrespectful to one of us and made a threat to kill her and he is unwilling to change his views. He must be punished.” Brina stated.
“You can punish me if you want but that won’t change anything.” Matthan said.
“Alexia, what’s going to happen to him?” Josie asked not knowing what the law said.
“Death is what the law calls for in this situation unless someone can stand up for him and mean it.” Kendreague stated. Edan shook his head no and Alexia did the same. Josie stood there a moment looking at Matthan.
“I will stand up for him.”
“You’re human, what do you care if I die or not?”

"Inevitable Destinyz" snippet 2

Decided to give you another peak....hope you enjoy it.

Brina went over to cabin twelve and knocked on the door. Kendreague answered still in his boxers. Brina flushed with embarrassment.
“Edan said you were ready and waiting here for me.” She said looking away for him.
“I’m sorry I never should have said anything to him. He tends to make life difficult for all of us. Come in and I’ll be ready in a minute.”
She followed him in, taking in the view. He’s hot. His body was perfect in every way. The muscles, the shape of his arse, everything was perfect.  Oh Goddess she thought, why am I feeling this way and why can’t I stop looking at him like this. Before she knew it, he was ready and they were heading out the door.
Kendreague was thinking he was going to have to tell Edan thank you for this one. He knew that she liked what she saw, she hadn’t blocked it very well, and that was just about everything to him right now. He was smiling and happy that she did. Now if only she liked spending time with him he would have what he really wanted. What was he thinking, she’s a witch I can’t like her. Why in hell am I feeling like this? What is with this one girl? His thoughts were then interrupted.
“Where are we going today in the boats?” Brina asked.
“We’re suppose to learn how to operate the boats and then we can do whatever, we just have to be on the water a few hours.” She didn’t like the few hours’ part but learning to run the boat might be fun. She wasn’t looking too happy.
“I’ll show you how the boat works, don’t worry. Then if you want we can ski or swim at the beach that’s out a ways, or we can go to a place I know and talk”
“No, I’d rather just stay in the boat. I don’t swim very well.” Brina explained.  Then it was quiet between the two of them.

Another Section....
They sat down on the benches, opposite of each other. Brina was still looking around at the trees and flowers. “I’m glad you came with me today.” Kendreague said.
